SCG Foundation, in collaboration with The Nakhon Pathom Chamber of Commerce and network, donate the first Modular Autopsy Unit in Thailand to Nakhonpathom Hospital

SCG Foundation, led by Mr. Chaovalit Ekabut, Executive Director, and Ms. Suvimol Chivaluk, Director and Manager, together with The Nakhon Pathom Chamber of Commerce and Thai PBS Foundation, provides the first Modular Autopsy Unit in Thailand worth 5.17 million Baht to Nakhon Pathom Hospital.  Dr. Dararat Rutanarugsa, M.D. and Director of Nakhonpathom Hospital,, and the hospital management team represented the hospital to receive the donation. This Modular Autopsy unit reduces the risk of COVID-19 infection and enhances the capability of autopsy in Nakhon Pathom and neighboring provinces for more than 700 cases per year. Moreover, it lowers work hours for medical school and expands the research related to COVID-19 and emerging diseases in the future.

The size of a Modular Autopsy Unit is 80.38 sq.m, which has a suitable and safe pressure-controlled system, including Positive Pressure Room to eliminate dust and germs and a Negative Pressure Room to limit and decrease virus transmission outside the building. The unit has divided into 4 parts as follows: 

1. AUTOPSY ZONE for the forensic pathologist. There is a pressure-controlled system, NEGATIVE PRESSURE ROOM, in this zone. The zone is designed to be easily clean and uses the ANTE zone to keep the air inside, limiting the virus transmission outside the building.
2. PREPARATION ZONE AND ANTE ROOM for healthcare professionals to prepare before their shift work. It includes a locker room to keep their belongings and changing clothes to PPE. There is a pressure-controlled system, POSITIVE PRESSURE ROOM, in this zone. 
3. EXIT ZONE and ANTE ROOM for healthcare professionals to leave after duty and take off their PPE. There is a pressure-controlled system, NEGATIVE PRESSURE ROOM, in this zone.
4. Bathroom for healthcare professionals to use before and after their duty.
